Social Ministry Team
The Social Ministry Team coordinates numerous opportunities to make “faith active in love” in the congregation and the Des Moines Community. Financial and in-kind gifts are solicited for the local homeless shelters and the FamilyViolenceCenter. They encourage participation in Habitat for Humanity projects, tutoring children from The Homes of Oakridge, the collection of food for the DMARC Food Pantry, serving meals at Central Iowa Shelter & Services, and they have led St. John’s into the Interfaith Hospitality Network as a support congregation.
