Global Mission: Digging a well in Sudan

Due to Civil War, many Sudanese are living in places other than Sudan, many in refugee camps in Ethiopia. With the signing of a peace accord, they have a desire to go back home and start a new life. However, the bombings destroyed their villages, schools, churches and water sources. Recognizing the need to start with the basics, Capitol Hill Lutheran Church has started a fund raising campaign to build a well in each of the following towns in Sudan: Jikow, Malual, and Boing. One shallow well costs about $6,000 and a deep well is around $12,000.

The Global Missions Ministry Team at St. John's would like to encourage our members to assist Capitol Hill Lutheran in their benevolent endeavor. A check payable to the Sudanese Christian Relief Development Organization, earmarked for the Sudanese Wells Outreach Project may be sent directly to Capitol Hill Lutheran Church, 511 Des Moines Street, Des Moines, IA 50309 or contact them to make a pledge, 244-8913.
