organizatiion that serves as a liaison between almost 150 member
congregations and its community?
- The Emergency Food Pantry is only one of the many DMARC programs that
merit your support?

- Cross Cultural/Interfaith Relations (increasing cooperation and
understanding among diverse peoples and faiths)
- Hope in the Center (Tutoring)
- LADOS (Life After Death of Spouse Support)
- January Thaw (entertaining and enlightening programs each winter)
- Outreach and Nurture (focusing on volunteerism and disability issues)
- Tours of Faiths (understanding religious symbols and traditions of
diverse faiths)

DMARC Food Pantry

In partnership
with other congregations in the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC), St. John’s collects dry food items for families in need in
our city. We’ve been collecting these items on the second Sunday of every
month, but intend to leave the grocery carts out EVERY SUNDAY from now on.
You may also write a check to the Food Pantry, and the staff there will
purchase items from a warehouse in bulk. Faithful volunteers helping include
Will and Maddie Parmeter, Anita Shodeen, and Charlie Torjesen.
Our list of needed food items are as follows:
- Canned Fruit(15 oz.)
- Canned Meals
- Canned Meat
- Canned Vegetables/Beans (15 oz.)
- Canned Soups
- Cereal (Hot/Cold)
- Diapers
- Egg Noodles
- Fruit/Vegetable Juices
- Infant Formula
- Instant Potatoes
- Jiffy Biscuit/Muffin Mixes
- Macaroni and Cheese Dinner
- Macaroni/Spaghetti
- Packaged Dinners (Helpers, etc.)
- Peanut Butter
- Rice
- Saltines
- Spaghetti Sauce (canned)
- Tomato Sauce
- Tuna.
