Central Iowa Shelter
|
|
On the 18th and 19th of EVERY month, St. John’s prepares and serves dinner
at Central Iowa Shelter. You don’t have to be able to cook—you could
provide items like butter or juice. There is always a sign up sheet in the
narthex. If you’d like more information, contact either the Rev. David
Stewart (265.6857) or Ed Slattery (254.1750), volunteer co-chairs. |

Churches United Shelter
205 15th St. - 284-5719
On the 18th and 19th of every month, the congregation of St. John’s has
committed to preparing and serving the meal at the shelter which is located
south of the downtown area between 13th and 15th Streets below Mulberry.
There are large, orange DOT signs to show the location as a result of the
construction in that area. We serve approximately 125 people each night and
there is a board in the lounge area for people to sign up. Here are a few
items you need to remember to help out with this worthwhile project:
- You are responsible for getting your food down to the shelter. The
meal is served between 6:15 and 6:30;
- If you cannot get to the shelter to deliver your meal donation, look
at the sign-up board to see if there is someone you know who can take the
food to the shelter for you
