Vacation Bible School
The theme for Vacation Bible School ( June 23-26) is Sweet Justice - Living Our Daily Lives in What God Calls Us to Do! The Lutheran Lakeside Camp Staff will be leading games, songs, crafts, and skits based on Micah 6.8. Each day we'll explore ways in which God's justice is persistent, equal, forgiving, humble, and in action. Registrations will be available later this month.

Appreciation Brunch
All Sunday School teachers and Children's Ministries Volunteers are invited to an Appreciation Brunch on Sunday, May 18 from 10am to 11am, in Neumann Hospitality Center. Please join us for food, drink, fellowship, a special story, and a big thank-you for a job well done!

General information
Sunday School starts Sunday, September 14, 2008

Sunday School teachers will be focusing on creating and nurturing faithful relationships with the children of St. John's, therefore the children will have the same Sunday School teachers for the entire year and they will be learning in a self contained classroom environment.

Our Sunday School teachers will be using the Witness curriculum published by Augsburg Fortress. This program is based on a strong biblical foundation, dedicated to the mission to learn from the Bible to live the Good News, and focused on presenting the Bible stories in a way that engages learners appropriately for their age level. They will be experiencing God’s word through interesting and engaging art, music, and other activities. Sunday School starts at 9:55am Sundays.

Children reaching the age of three years old by September 15, 2008 are invited to join the Sunday School program 2008/09. Parents please bring your three and four year olds to room 5 (across from the nursery). Three and four year olds can be picked up in that same room (room 5) at 10:55.

Kindergarteners can be dropped off by parents in room 7 (in Weertz Hall). Parents can pick up kindergarteners in room 7 at 10:55.

Parents need to drop off first through fifth graders at the chapel at 9:55. Each week in the chapel, we will sing songs and hear a chapel talk to introduce the Bible story of the week. The chapel talk will help children relate the Bible story to their own lives. Sunday School teachers will then escort their class up to second floor to their assigned Sunday School room.

Parents, please pick up first through fifth graders in their assigned classroom on second floor at 10:55.

Each week a Sunday School offering will be collected. Children are encouraged to give a portion of their own money during this time. If your child receives an allowance, please encourage him/her to use some of that money for our Sunday School offering.

To offer your time and talents to Children's Ministries, please contact Sheryl Reed, Director of Children's Ministries at 243-7691 Ext. 193 or e-mail at sherylreed@stjohnsdsm.org.
